Response to Reading Rubric
This rubric will be used to assess all of the Response to Reading assignments.
Reflect on and apply the information from the readings to your own experiences and prior knowledge. For each Response to Reading, you will respond to the following questions. There is no required length for this response, however, be sure the depth of your answer provides enough detail to show reflection and insight into the concepts and theories being explored.
1. What is your first impression of the reading(s)?
2. How does the reading(s) apply to education in general?
3. How will the reading(s) apply to your classroom?

Understanding of concept, theory, or idea and its application Reponses demonstrate thoughtful reflection and insight making many connections (5+) to the field of education and teacher’s specific classroom.
Responses demonstrate an understanding of the main points of the reading and connection to the field of education and teacher’s specific classroom.
Responses demonstrate limited understanding of essential information and limited connections (1 – 2) are made to the field of education and teacher’s specific classroom.
Responses reveal that the candidate does not grasp the concept(s) OR the candidate did not complete assignment.
Mastery = Meets or Exceeds level
