The result of the case study was as follows

-the employment patterns across Europe’s top 5 countries of Spain, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands and the UK is varied depending on the bloc regulation authority as well as government policies that either aim to protect businesses or the workers.

-that there is no regional or external pressures that were observed to cause convergence of employment patterns ie  part-time working, the institutional

protection afforded in the Netherlands encouraged a divergence in practice from the other countries.

Government regulation and industrial relations traditions and government policy has led organisations to adopt contingent employment practices

that are in line with local as opposed to regional or global isomorphic pressures. As a result, organisational practice with regard to the use of contingent workers has remained distinct during the

the 1990s.

What lessons that you have learnt from the case study? Why?

Lessons learnt is that companies are profit oriented organizations and will direct their operations such that they avoid loses.

That government decisions and policies impact the nature of businesses in relation to employment patterns.

Companies adopted contingency employment practices to avoid adversities of economic depression as experienced in 2008.

That political and social factors of deinstitutionalization can lead to the demise of existing organisational norms and practices, making way for organisational innovation.

Reasons is that government policies are legally binding to institutions and they have to operate under these laws in the for survival. These laws from the legal bodies is aimed at protecting the workers and the firm and ensuring that there is no exploitation of either. Adoption of contingent employment patterns by institutions are as a result of coping up with varying market behaviour which in turn assist in avoiding loses and sustaining in markets.

Political and social factors influence the can be a result of changing cultures and view of organisations by the public. This will determine the acceptance of the business within the communities.
