Harlem renaissance refers to the cultural and intellectual revival of the Africa American dance, art, fashion, music, theater, politics and literature. This renowned renaissance happened in Harlem, Manhattan in New York City between the years 1920-1930. The renaissance came as a result of demeaning and maltreatment of the Africa American population in the United States for a long period of time. This movement was therefore organized in order to revive and rejuvenate the African American culture, music, and general ways of life that had almost been watered down completely by the American culture and way of life. The movement enhanced mass movement of the African American people from different parts of the United states where they were scattered during slave trade, especially from the south to the northern and Midwestern parts of the united states where they combined and started championing and struggling for the civil rights of the Africa-American people that had been disregarded for quite long time.
